The !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! of the XR8, XR6 and G6E suggest that, cosmetically at least, the FG and 2014 facelift aren't _that_ different.

I still don't understand why they don't just use that platform and build a Lincoln on it.
It seems stupidly obvious.

Apparently, a lot of work needed to be done to the platform to make it comply with US regulations. (Think of all the changes GM had to make to the VZ Holden Monaro to turn it into the GTO.) Add in CAFE and the not-engineered-here syndrome, and it was all too much. Sad really.
